I got the Holstein Schnitzel and was thrilled with the schnitzel and loved the pan sauce/gravy it was served on top of. I was so happy seeing some traditional items on the menu like Sauerbraten and Wiener Schnitzel but they also had some other lesser known dishes that I recall seeing in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The beer selection was great and there was something for everyone. We ordered 2 large pretzels for a table of 9 and it was more than enough as everyone was anticipating more food. The wait staff was accommodating to the last minute mention of it being a birthday and provided special decor at the table. “My friend celebrated his birthday at The Alpine Chef and it was such a hit. Definitely plan to stop again on our way down to Kings Dominion or back - boys loved it - and patient team members!” The only reason we gave the atmosphere a 4 is because it was SOOOO COLD inside. Super friendly team, even when dealing with a late arrival on a Sunday night. The burgers, quesadillas and corn dogs are really close to homemade - not huge - not perfect - but overall good and definitely worth going back. Tons of flavors to choose from and each boy enjoyed their own unique shake on top of the meal. The milkshakes were AMAZING and honestly so good and thick considering the overall cost. Portions are decent, not huge but fine especially if you top it off with a milkshake. ![]() We stopped on the way home from Kings Dominion and four boys loved it! No disrespect to the employees but no one cares about the waiter/waitress/clerk names, or if they look like they fell face first into a tackle box. The store is now updated with the scanner for DQ rewards points and app ordering if you're into that.*Note this review was completed without using ridiculous undiscriptive terms like out-of-bounds, OMG, on point, awesome, the bomb, yummy, delish, to die for, do your self a favor, trust me, or kids emojis etc. The place is normally very clean with exceptions for lunch rush hour. That's the extent of our purchases and they are always very good as is the service. Hot fudge malt and caramel shake (no fofo cream/cherry nonsense) along with a bag of Buster Bars. Similarly, the Lamb Vindaloo offered a spicy yet satisfying flavor profile.The real surprise was the Butter Paneer dish, which, despite being ordered at a medium spice level, was milder than expected. The garlic naan was soft and delicious, a perfect accompaniment to the main courses.The Ghana Masala had a delightful kick of spiciness, which I enjoyed.
